It is more and more certain that the citizens from next year will pay a significantly higher price of electricity, after the state company Power Plants of Northern Macedonia (ESM) has prepared and submitted to the Government the production plan for 2022 and the financial plan. published TV24.

The television has learned that the production price of ESM electricity, which is one of the main criteria for setting the price for households, from the current 36 euros, is likely to rise to 45 euros per megawatt-hour, which is an increase of about 20 percent.

The state-owned company in the letter addressed to the Government gives different calculations, prices and quantities - and what each of them will mean financially, writes TV24.

The state-owned MEPSO will also request an increase, but the company is still analyzing it. Director Kushtrim Ramadani says that we would have accurate calculations in the coming days, but also that the participation of MEPSO in the final price is minimal.

According to the head of the Energy Regulatory Commission, Marko Bislimovski, it is still early to talk about whether the price of electricity will increase and how much the eventual increase of the price will be. He says that the final decision will be made after receiving the calculations from the companies.

Macedonia has been officially in an energy crisis since November 9. The companies have so far been injected with 65 million euros to cover the costs they have incurred in the past period. The authorities announced that if necessary, there will be additional financial assistance.

Everyone sees the salvation in the activation of domestic capacities, which would increase the domestic production - which in the past period is at a really low level. The country is facing higher consumption than production, due to which the state-owned MEPSO has been uninterruptedly pulling electricity from the European network for several months. So only for the month of October he received an invoice worth 16,5 million euros.

REK Oslomej should start working on Wednesday, and last week the Government instructed ESM to procure fuel oil for TPP Negotino - after which this plant would start working.
