Chef Rene Rexhepi, originally from the Tetovo village of Dzepciste, found himself on the main media news again. Yesterday, his restaurant "Noma", which opened just 12 months ago in Copenhagen, Denmark, was ranked second on the list of best restaurants in the world. Rexhepi also published this news on social networks.

- We were just nominated as the second best restaurant in the world! Honestly, none of us dreamed that this would happen. One day someone in the kitchen said, "Hey, we can be number 49!" Since we have not been part of the list for four years, and now to debut with the second place 12 months after we started, it is amazing for us. I do not want to go into the politics of which list or menu is better, but I just want to say that I feel very proud and happy with the team I work with every day and I am grateful to all those who voted for us. Thanks to everyone. But how lucky we are in a city that has two restaurants in the top five. Congratulations to "Geranium", which is on the 5th place on the list. The biggest congratulations are for a wonderful friend of mine and the best chef I know, Mauro Collagreco and the whole Mirazur team! - Rexhepi wrote on Facebook last night.

Rene Rexhepi, 42, is the owner of the world-famous Noma restaurant. He was born in Copenhagen, but comes from Macedonia, more specifically from the Tetovo village Dzepciste. His father is a Macedonian Albanian from Tetovo, and his mother is from Denmark. Rene spent a good part of his childhood in Dzepciste. His family of five lived in a small, low-income apartment in Copenhagen, so after a while their parents decided to move to Macedonia. Life in a rural area was much better for them. They stayed in Macedonia until the Balkan wars, when they decided to return to Copenhagen.

In 2011, Rene Rexhepi was named "Best Chef in the World", and the restaurant "Noma" for several years in a row held the title of "Best Restaurant in the World" and "Michelin Stars". In 2012, Rene Rexhepi was named the 11th most influential man in the world, and appeared on the cover of the Times.
