Big ambitions of the first Turkish car manufacturer
Gurcan Karakas, director of the first Turkish car manufacturer Tog, spoke about the ambitious goals of this company whose vehicles will start to be sold next year. Mass production of the first examples of Tog's model, an electric SUV, began last month and should be completed in the first quarter of 2023.
The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, previously stated that the country is thus getting closer to fulfilling a long dream, which is to have a domestic car brand. Karakash emphasized that it is a technologically advanced vehicle whose price will be known in February next year.
"Tog will be priced competitively in its class, which also applies to vehicles that have an internal combustion engine." Orders will be accepted from February 2023," he told reporters at Tog's factory in the Bursa region of northwestern Turkey. He announced that the first samples will be on the way from March. The vehicle is manufactured by a consortium of five Turkish companies called the Turkish Automobile Group Initiative (TOGG). Togg will also create a network of vehicle charging stations in Turkey, and the network will consist of more than 1.000 stations, writes Daily Sabah, Klixba portal reports.
