A large forest fire on the Greek island of Samos

The battle with the forest fire on the Greek island of Samos lasted all night and this morning the extinguishing continued from the air, and according to the local media the situation has improved significantly today.

78 firefighters with six infantry teams, 15 vehicles and two helicopters are involved in extinguishing the fire, and among the firefighters are 28 from Athens, who arrived on the island by plane last night.

According to local media, two villages were evacuated as a precaution last night.

The helicopter that crashed yesterday in the sea southwest of the island helped in the specific fire, and two crew members lost their lives, while the other two were saved.
