The vehicle of a student who was declared missing 45 years ago was found in a stream in Alabama. His wallet, ID card and human remains were in the car.

Kyle Klinskeles, a student at Auburn University, he was last seen on the night of Jan. 27, 1976, driving back from his hometown of La Grange back to campus, Sheriff County Sheriff James Woodruff told a news conference yesterday.

The 22-year-old never arrived at the University of Alabama and it was not yet known what happened to him, writes CNN.

"We have been looking for the Klinskskale and his car for 45 years. "We followed hundreds of trails and never found anything important," Woodruff said, adding that during the investigation they drained the lakes and conducted a number of other searches.

Police on Tuesday received a report of a vehicle located in a stream near District Road 83. When police arrived at the scene, they found a partially submerged car.

Sid Lockhart, Chambers County Sheriff, said the vehicle was found a few miles off the road that took the Klinskskale back to the university. He added that he did not know if the area had been searched at the time of the student's disappearance.

"We believe these are human remains."

Police found a wallet, credit cards and student IDs and several bones in the rusty car.

"We believe that these are human remains. We called the Georgia Investigation Office. "We are currently conducting an analysis to determine if it is a student bone," Woodruff said.

The mother of the missing student died earlier this year, all the while hoping that her son would return home someday. The Clinkerskale father died in 2007.
