Gjorgjievski, if he becomes a candidate for mayor of Skopje: I expect victory in the first round

The Mayor of Kisela Voda and President of ZELS, Orce Gjorgjievski, stated that if he were to run for mayor of Skopje, he expects to win in the first round and that he bases this on the support he receives from the citizens and the results he has achieved so far as mayor of Kisela Voda.

In an interview with the weekly magazine "Focus", Gjorgjievski talks about his work so far, his vision for Skopje and the possibility of running for mayor of the capital.

-If I become a candidate for mayor of Skopje, I expect to win in the first round. As the President of the Government and VMRO-DPMNE said, in the next period, surveys will be conducted, in which, apart from me, I assume that the other Skopje mayors from VMRO-DPMNE will also be surveyed, but of course there will be other people who will be surveyed. I, my ambition, given that I am the president of ZELS, expressed it more than a year ago. I believe that I have done a lot of work in the municipality, that we have results behind us, energy, a team... But, above all, I also have a concept of how Skopje should look in the future, how the city should be organized in a relatively short time. I think that this past period is also welcomed by the citizens from whom I receive serious support. So, I have not hidden my ambition for mayor of Skopje, neither in the past nor now, emphasized Mayor Gjorgjievski.

In the interview, he highlighted the problem of public transport as one of the most pressing for Skopje and proposed a concrete solution – the construction of a light metro, but he also focused on the need for a municipal police force to improve hygiene and public order in the city, as well as the plan to turn Drisla into a biopower plant. Speaking about the need for a stable energy system in Skopje, he announced an initiative to build a gas power plant, which, as he emphasized, would be the right solution.

-What is missing in the City and needs to be worked on to the end is the gasification of Skopje and a gas power plant, which should be built in Skopje, and in my opinion, one of the best positions for that is "Ohis". If we act in an organized manner, the city government, in cooperation with the municipalities, which will act in a timely manner, will remove landfills, create green areas and afforest them, and if the central government joins the process, enabling gasification and the construction of a gas power plant, I think that pollution in the capital will be enormously reduced - said Gjorgjievski.

In the interview, he also refers to his work as mayor of Kisela Voda, noting that in three years he has almost completely implemented his program. In addition to the concept of how Skopje should look in the future and how the city can be organized in a relatively short time, he also spoke about the situation and commitments of ZELS, local self-government, territorial organization, decentralization, the projects that municipalities should prepare and apply with capital projects for the second call for financial support from the Government, and other topics related to internal politics in the state and the judiciary.
