Djokovic is the best tennis player in the world again: Siner defeated Alcaraz in the semi-finals in Miami
Novak Djokovic is in Monte Carlo, where he started the final preparations for the season on clay, and there, when he woke up, he was greeted by the news that he is the best tennis player in the world again.
For that this time he cannot thank himself and the results on the court, because he does not have the right to compete at the Masters in Indian Wells and Miami, but at Janik Siner from Italy.
Siner overcame him Carlos Alcaraz from Spain in the semi-finals of The Masters in Miami with 6:7(4), 6:4, 6:2 and so for the first time in his career he celebrated against the current champion of the tournament in Florida on concrete.
This was the first match in which Alcaraz dropped a set since the start of the tournament in Indian Wells, and unfortunately for him, he immediately dropped two. These two tennis players were dominant until the semi-finals, so Siner allowed his rivals 23 games, and Alcaraz 22.
With this defeat, Alcaraz lost 640 points ATP list, so from Monday he will officially be behind Djokovic with 6,780 points, while the Serbian will remain at 7,160.
The Spanish tennis player failed to enter the ranks of the greats, only seven players won Indian Wells and Miami in the same year, and Djokovic did it the most of all - a total of four times, three times in a row.
Jannik Sinner won the point of the year—and then won one of the matches of the year. 👏
In the latest installment of their electric rivalry, the 21-year-old Italian defeats 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2.
👉 Novak Djokovic will return to ATP No. 1 on Monday.
