According to the European ambassador David Gere judicial reforms to ensure the rule of law are an ongoing process that must move forward. At today's signing of the EU grant agreement with the EIB for the wastewater treatment plant in Skopje, he said that significant steps are needed for progress.

Geer emphasized that they will continue to provide financial and technical assistance in that process. The European ambassador emphasized that it must be ensured that there will be a judiciary that will have the trust of the public and that will be independent, professional and objective.

As you know, every year the European Commission has a report on the country that monitors progress across the border in the area of EU-related reforms and naturally this looks in depth at the issue of justice and rule of law reforms as it is an essential element in the accession process. That is why we follow the development at every stage from the very opening of the negotiations until the accession of the country, said Geer.

He assessed that there has been progress in some areas and institutions and encouraged them to progress even more.
