The German Greens will announce the result of the vote for the new ruling coalition
The German Greens are due to announce today the result of a vote by members on whether to continue with the tripartite coalition of the Social Democrats (SPD) and the Free Democrats (FDP).
A "yes" vote will pave the way for the first government after 16 years without Angela Merkel at the helm.
There is no doubt that the coalition agreement will be approved, despite some disputes over the allocation of government posts ahead of the vote, the DPA reported.
The center-left SPD and pro-business FDP have already approved the deal at party conferences over the weekend.
If the Greens follow suit as INTO ce expects the new government to be formed tomorrow with the signing of a coalition agreement. On Wednesday, SPD Chancellor Olaf Scholz will be sworn in as Merkel's successor.
Already ce the names of nine federal ministers from the Greens and the FDP are known, and today the SPD will appoint seven more.
Scholz wants to have at least as many women as men in his government.
