German Vice Chancellor Habeck visiting Kyiv

German Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck arrived in Kyiv today for a visit focused on Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, emergency aid and strengthening the country's economy, DPA reported.

Habek, who also serves as Minister of Economy, is accompanied by a business delegation. The trip comes as Germany prepares to hold the next Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin on June 11 and 12. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are joint hosts of the international meeting.

Upon arrival, Habek said the visit comes at a time when Ukraine needs all the support it can get in its "struggle for freedom."

- Yes, Ukraine is fighting for its own self-determination, for its territorial integrity against the aggression of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, but it is also fighting for the values ​​that unite and characterize Europe, he said.

In Kyiv, Habek will meet with Zelensky, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko and Energy Minister German Galushchenko, among others.
