The German Bundestag will declare the "holodomor" caused by Stalin in Ukraine 90 years ago as genocide
The ruling parties and the Christian Democrats in the German Bundestag intend to submit a resolution that would make the famine caused by the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin in Ukraine 90 years ago will be characterized as genocide.
"For Ukraine, the so-called "Holodomor" was a very traumatic, frightening chapter in history," the draft resolution says.
The events of 90 years ago, from today's perspective, indicate that it is a genocide, according to the parties.
German parties believe that "Holodomor" can be included in the list of crimes of totalitarian systems, during which more than a million people died in Europe in the first half of the 20th century.
The vote on this resolution is scheduled for next Wednesday
