A German handball player admitted: I am gay, I have a boyfriend and I am in love with him
The German handball player, Lukas Krzykala, in an interview with the "Welt am Sonntag" newspaper, became the first handball player in the Bundesliga to admit that he is gay.
It is about a 28-year-old handball player who wears the shirt of Leipzig, and for the past 12 years he has been part of the strongest German league. Although he is now sharing the information with the public, he revealed that his teammates and coach already knew and he was well received.
"I thought about this move for a long time, a whole year. In the end I said to myself, why not take that step? Why not say I'm gay? How long will I have to live in deception, until when will I lie and for whom? There will always be people who won't like you no matter what you do. "From today I can say out loud: I am gay, I have a boyfriend and I am in love with him, we are happy", said Krzhikala.
However, he did not make the decision to confess unilaterally, he talked together with his partner Chris.
"The club manager asked us how we met. I was happy that Chris was accepted so well when we decided to be open with everyone. "At that moment we knew that we wanted to publicly say what we are," said the handball player.
With this move, he hopes to motivate other players to come out publicly and stop hiding.
