Germany should as soon as possible adopt a concept to combat a possible new wave of the coronavirus pandemic in the fall, the federal minister of justice said today Marko Bushman.

"Most likely, we will present the concept for the fight against the coronavirus for the fall during July," Bushman said in an interview with the Welt am Sonntag daily.

He said that within the new concept "the protective mask will play a stronger role", which would mean the eventual return of the obligation to wear masks in closed spaces.

According to Bushman, the measures will be adapted to the current data from the field, that is, the frequency of infections.

However, he ruled out reintroducing measures such as locking down or closing schools.

Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has warned citizens on several occasions in recent days about the new pandemic waves expected in Germany in the fall and winter.
