Germany will send warships to the Indo-Pacific region

Germany will send two warships to the Indo-Pacific region next year, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said today. Pistorius said this at the Shangri-La Dialogue meeting in Singapore, dedicated to security issues in Asia.

The German minister pointed out that the countries of the world must protect the rules-based international order and guarantee the protection of the main shipping routes.

"To this end, the German federal government sent a frigate to the Indo-Pacific region in 2021 and will do so again in 2024. This time we will send a frigate and a support ship," said the text of Pistorius' speech, published. by the German Ministry of Defense.

The German minister clarified that the sending of the ships was not directed against a specific country, DPA reported.
