Georgievski claims that the detailed urban plan will reduce the area for polluting industry by 100 hectares

It is pure speculation that land will be sold in Gazi Baba for the construction of a waste processing plant. Although it is true that we have thought about it, but nothing concrete has been decided. This was stated today by the Mayor of Gazi Baba, Boris Georgievski.

According to his statement,  The citizens are worrying in vain, the adoption of the new Detailed Urban Plan will not enable the construction of new facilities for heavy and polluting industry, with purpose G1.

- The area of the polluting industry will be reduced by 30 percent, which means that with the adoption of the DUP there will be 100 hectares less area allocated for heavy and polluting industry. We have agreed with the City that the area of polluters will be reduced and there is no possibility to has a development component. Even investors are not interested in developing a polluting industry, because the procedures are complex and expensive. I responsibly claim that the development of the heavy industry is not foreseen, except the one that already exists, within the Ironworks, there will be no other, claims the Mayor Georgievski.

According to him, the adoption of the DUP will be beneficial for the Municipality, because in that way each of the legal entities that use land in Zelezara will have to pay tax to the Municipality, which they have skillfully avoided so far, precisely because of the lack of DUP.

- We want to introduce order, and that is possible only by adopting a detailed urban plan. The legal entities that are in Zelezara have only a user right, with the DUP we will know who manages them, and they will have to pay property tax, and they will be able to buy the land. The plan has not yet been adopted and changes are possible. The opinion of the citizens is most important to me. I am available to talk to the citizens, but with facts, and I appeal to the citizens to come with verified information. There are also political games in question, which I do not justify in any case, and I appeal to the citizens not to fall under the influence of the political parties from the opposition, says Georgievski.

He also denied speculation that the East Gate investor was exempt from paying utilities.

- The same gate will open in September. We can not free anyone from utilities. We have transferred the right to construction, because we have not provided road infrastructure. On the other hand, the investor will build the road infrastructure, and will pay less.  But everything has been calculated, and let there be no doubt that the Municipality enabled him not to pay the utilities. We can do that only if it is a school or kindergarten, explains Georgievski.
