The statement by the Army Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen Vasko Gjurcinovski for military service again is an attempt to open a debate, the president of the state and supreme commander of the armed forces said tonight, Stevo Pendarovski.

In a guest appearance on the show "Top Tema" on "Telma", Pendarovski said that it is good that in the statement of the head of the General Administration of Social Affairs he says "if the political factors decide."

- I am a democrat, I cannot change anyone for my expressed opinion. At least the Chief of the General Staff. He is doing his job very well up to this moment, said the head of state.

Pendarovski clarified that at this moment six NATO member countries have mandatory military service, and in several more such debates are being opened.

– I don't think it's a sin to talk about it. My view is that this debate has long been resolved in favor of professional armies, as opposed to an army of recruits, said Pendarovski.

Regarding the consensus on constitutional changes, Pendarovski once again reiterated that he does not agree with forcing this issue.

- I don't think that issue should be the number one political priority. We have other things to solve, stressed Pendarovski.

He added that from the first moment when the "Vancho Mihailov" club was opened, he advocated changing the law following an urgent procedure and introducing a register of names that cannot be given.

– I do not think that the body that has yet to be formed will solve the problem, because it will not work retroactively. The fact that we have slept as a country does not excuse us. We have to change the Law, Pendarovski said among other things.

As for education, President Pendarovski believes that things have not changed significantly since 10 years ago.

- There are probably many reasons. I am not an expert on education although I have been a practitioner in the field of education. Some things that had to be done to put education on a renewed, if not completely new basis, were not done, the head of state said.

According to him, it was necessary to conduct an audit of all faculties and universities that were opened in the past ten years and to audit all diplomas, especially master's degrees and diplomas for doctorates of sciences.

In education, he said, we must enter in a strategic sense with fundamental and not with cosmetic changes.

- Unfortunately, I do not see that it has been done so far and that there are plans to make substantial changes in the system, said the president of the state, adding that we very little involve the business community to help in making the curricula and programs.
