The bosses are serious that they will import workers from Nepal and Bangladesh, they would also build boarding schools for them to stay
The lack of workers, which is seriously felt by Macedonian companies, will cause the importation of workers from abroad, repeated the head of the Organization of Employers. Angel Dimitrov, in an interview with MIA.
He says that at least three Macedonian agencies are in negotiations to import labor from abroad. According to him, this is already an established practice in Croatia and Bulgaria, where companies have also built boarding schools for the residence of workers, who mainly come from countries from the Middle and Far East.
"There are countries with a minimum wage of 114-115 euros, and our wage is three times higher. They also have much worse living and working conditions," says Dimitrov, who represents Macedonian employers.
In particular, Dimitrov received an offer for workers from Nepal, but negotiations are also underway with Bangladesh, Pakistan and Indonesia.
"If we don't do that, with young people moving out, we will be left without workers, the economy will slowly collapse, and the budget will run out of money." So, the state should prepare even now, if this is not done, the number of deputies in the Parliament and the number of ministers in the Government and the number of employees in public administration will be reduced, because there will be no money for everyone", Dimitrov added.
Dimitrov believes that liberalization of the labor market is needed, and that the rights from the Law on Labor Relations apply equally to domestic and foreign workers.
"I think that Macedonia is not a country, like some Arab countries, where foreigners will work for 20 hours, will not have any rights and will be treated as second-class citizens," said Dimitrov.
