GALLERY: The new premises of the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Center opened under strong police security
Today, the new premises of the Bulgarian State Cultural and Information Center in Skopje were officially opened, under strong police security. The Center's new headquarters is on Nikola Vaptsarov Street in the very center of the metropolis.
- With the new building of the cultural and informational center of Bulgaria in Skopje, we expect new energy to be opened in mutual relations for a cultural competition and for the victory of creativity. The Bulgarian KIC in Skopje and ours in Sofia aim to bring us closer as peoples and cultures. Open wide the gates of culture - Minister of Culture Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska said at the opening.
The opening was attended by the Bulgarian Minister of Culture Velislav Minekov, as well as the director of the Center, Antonia Veleva. The Bulgarian KIC works under the auspices of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture.
An exhibition of paintings by contemporary artists from Macedonia and Bulgaria has also been opened in the Center.
By the way, the Bulgarian cultural center in Skopje was founded in 2006 after the Agreement between the governments of April 2003. The same Macedonian cultural center has been working in Sofia for years.
Before the opening and during the event, Nikola Vaptsarov Street was under strong police security, and the policemen lined up in a cordon did not let anyone pass while the opening lasted.
The provision is due to the attacks that are taking place these days on the Bulgarian club with the scandalous name "Tsar Boris Treti", which is unacceptable to the Macedonians. Two days ago, a gun was fired in the center of Ohrid, and six days ago, solid objects were thrown at it, causing damage to its shop windows.
The opening of the new premises of the state Bulgarian cultural and information center passed without incident.
