France and the Netherlands say they have found ways to counter US anti-inflation measures
France and the Netherlands are in the same position when it comes to the ways of action of the European Union in case of unwanted consequences of the Law to reduce inflation, which came into force in the United States, said the Prime Minister of the Netherlands. Mark Rutte, after the meeting with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
"We agreed to first carefully examine what funds are already available in the EU," Rutte said, referring to discussions about whether the EU needs new funds to support industry that could be hit by US protectionist policies.
"And we need to see what the EU can do to ensure that the US treats it the way it treats Mexico and Canada, so that the EU can deal with the unintended consequences of the US," he added.
