PHOTO+VIDEO | Drivers with a warning: If we are not paid, instead of 30, Skopje will be blocked with 220 buses
The private bus carriers, today at the crossroads in front of T.C. Mavrovka parked 30 buses as a sign of revolt against the non-payment of the debt owed to them by JSP "Skopje".
The transporters announced at the protest that apart from roadblocks, they will seek justice institutionally, for which they have already hired a law firm.
At the protest, the private carriers from "Makeexpress" and "Sloboda Vraviz" also pointed out that there are currently 30 buses on the streets, but as they said, if the payment problem is not resolved in the next few days, they will completely block Skopje with all 220 buses at their disposal.
- This protest is because of the debt that JSP made us by not paying the funds, which in a few days will reach 2 million euros. This protest is a direct consequence. The mayor of the City of Skopje, Danela Arsovska, refused to accept us and because of the debt of the JSP to us, we are put in a situation where we do not have the means to take food to the families. On this occasion, I apologize to the citizens of Skopje for the crowd and chaos that occurred. I am asking for your understanding because we have been on these streets for over 30 years and for those 30 years there have been a million events, strikes, blockades, protests, marathons and we have endured all of that - said Qemal Muric for "Utrinski Pechat".
Muric also pointed out that they demand to be paid the outstanding funds so that, as he said, they can immediately return to work and continue transporting Skopje citizens.
Among other things, the private carriers also pointed out that today they will attend the session of the City of Skopje, at which, as they said, they will have two representatives from the private carriers. At the Council session, they expect the councilors to ask numerous questions to the mayor about the current situation with public city transport.
- We duly notified the Ministry of the Interior and placed 30 buses out of a total of 220 that we have in front of Mavrovka. If a solution is not found quickly, we are in a position with our capacity to totally paralyze the entire city - said Muric.
The carriers believe that with the help of the institutions, as they say, justice will come to light because, as they said, they are unfairly accused of not paying tax as well as collecting illegal funds. The carriers also accused the mayor Arsovska of trying to distract the public's attention from the real problem, which she said was caused by the institutions under her authority, with what they called a "filthy lie".
