In the city of Akron, Ohio, a state of emergency was declared today, a curfew was introduced and fireworks were canceled on the occasion of Independence Day, after the escalation of protests due to the police killing of an unarmed African-American man last night.

The protests erupted after police released a video showing eight officers shooting at Jayland Walker (25), an African-American man fleeing from traffic police.

It was later discovered that the body of the murdered Walker had about 60 gunshot wounds.

According to initial reports, eight Akron police officers were involved in the shooting that killed the unarmed Walker.
