PHOTO + VIDEO | Pendarovski and Von der Layen discussed the European integration of Northern Macedonia
Today, the President Stevo Pendarovski met with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Layen, who is visiting the Republic of Northern Macedonia.
Pendarovski expressed gratitude for this visit and for the personal engagement of the President of the European Commission and the commitment to the countries of the Western Balkans, said the office of the head of state.
- Pendarovski and Von der Layen exchanged views and information on the latest developments related to our European integration and concluded that the start of accession negotiations between Northern Macedonia and the European Union will further intensify the reform process and enable economic and social progress.
President Pendarovski stressed the importance of the European Commission's support in the context of European solidarity for the inclusion of the region in all European Union-led initiatives, as well as for mitigating the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The interlocutors also discussed current developments in the region as well as the European Union's economic-investment plan for the Western Balkans, according to a statement from the President's Office.
