Norway has pledged to provide 1 billion euros in financial support to Ukraine to boost its defenses, help the poor and help rebuild after the Russian invasion.
The Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Stoere yesterday in Kyiv he said that Norway wants to express its solidarity with the struggle for the survival of Ukraine.
"I am here to say that the Ukrainian struggle is not only about Ukraine. It is about some basic principles of the world that we will offer to our children. It's about security in Europe, about the fate of your neighbor," Stoere said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"We will donate one billion euros to support your country and your people for the rest of 2022 and 2023. This war is a violation of international law... You have the right to defend yourself and we have the right to help defend yourself", added Stoere.
When asked if Norway was ready to increase its contribution to Europe's gas supply, Stoere said that Norway was already producing the "maximum" amount of gas possible, but that it would do everything in its power to supply it.
Zelensky says it is necessary to continue to put pressure on Russia to end the war.
