(PHOTO) Ukrainian drones attacked a Russian military air base

The Rostov region of Russia was massively attacked by drones.

Explosions were heard especially in the city of Morozovsk, where a military air base is located.

Russian planes are stationed there, with which the Russian forces carry out attacks against Ukraine.

Eyewitnesses among the local residents report that after the strong explosions during the night, a fire broke out in the city, and clouds of smoke were visible in different parts of the city.

Relevant videos and photos were published on social networks and local media.

The governor of the Rostov region, Vasiliy Golubev, said that the attack by drones on the night of June 14 interrupted the electricity supply to some settlements in the Morozov region.

"Several settlements are in the eclipse zone. Measures are being taken to switch consumers to backup power,” he said.

The Russian official also said that air defense forces reportedly successfully repelled a massive drone strike in the region.

Golubev also added that no one was injured, but "the consequences on the field are being cleared up".

Afterwards, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that 70 drones had been shot down over the Rostov region. However, these statements cannot be verified.

Near the city of Morozovsk is the Russian military air base Morozovsk.

The 559th Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 1st Guards Composite Aviation Division of the Russian Air Force is based at the airport.

Su-34 fighter-bombers, as well as Su-30 and Su-35 fighters are located in the airbase.

These aircraft are used by Russia for air attacks on the positions of the armed forces of Ukraine and Ukrainian settlements near the front line and on the border with Russia.

It is worth noting that this is not the first drone attack on this Russian military airbase.

The previous mass drone attack took place on the night between April 4 and 5.

The first explosions then occurred around midnight local time.
