PHOTO: The Ukrainian army is advancing around Kherson
The Ukrainian army has liberated Davydov Brid, an important village in the Kherson region, forcing Russian forces to make another swift retreat, the BBC reports.
Russia still controls the city of Kherson, the largest city in southern Ukraine. In the past 48 hours, Ukrainian forces have been fighting south along the west bank of the Dnieper River, and Russian units have now been forced to withdraw from several settlements in the northern part of the Kherson region.

And the Institute of War reported that Ukrainian forces continued to make significant gains in the Kherson region, while simultaneously continuing to advance in Kharkiv and Luhansk.

"Ukrainian forces liberated several settlements on the eastern bank of the Inhulets River along the T2207 highway, forcing Russian forces to retreat south to Kherson. Ukrainian forces also continued to advance south along the Dnieper River and the T0403 highway, pushing the Russians south of the Kherson-Dnepropetrovsk border towards the Berislav area.

"Ukrainian forces also continued to advance east of the Oskil River in Kharkiv Oblast, and Russian sources claim that fighting is taking place near the P66 Svatove-Kremina highway," the Institute said.
