PHOTO | Police still used sound cannons at protests in Belgrade, Serbian media claim
Some Serbian media outlets published new photographs today, claiming that during the mass protests in Belgrade, an invisible, sonic attack was used on the crowd, the circumstances of which have yet to be determined.

Namely, despite the initial denial by the Serbian authorities that they used a sound cannon, there is more and more information that supports the students' claims, several Serbian media outlets report.
First, Serbian Police Minister Ivica Dacic denied his initial claims, stating that the statement that the Serbian Ministry of Interior does not have a sound cannon is clumsy.
"These systems are in our warehouses in boxes. They are owned by the Ministry of Interior, but they have not been put into service, nor have they been installed on any of our vehicles or systems," Dacic said.
Then, photos emerged from Belgrade on March 15th showing a device mounted on a Belgrade gendarmerie vehicle that looked like a sound cannon.

Now, a testimony has emerged from a member of the Gendarmerie who claims that “several sound cannons” were deployed at Saturday’s protests. He spoke to Danas.rs about his involvement in the protests, but to protect him, the outlet did not publish his name.
"The device was placed on the hood of our Defender vehicle, which we colloquially call the Indian. It is a Defender without a roof. Next to it was an "operator" who was in charge of operating this device. In addition to this vehicle, there was another vehicle parked to the left of it with the same device. It was explained to us that this device would be activated if necessary, as well as how to behave if it was activated," says the source, who will likely be included in the class action lawsuit filed by students and other citizens affected by the sonic attack, writes Nova.rs.
He states that he was not the only one next to the vehicle with the sound cannon, but the entire platoon of the Gendarmerie and that the vehicle could not be seen from the street, due to the fence around the Serbian parliament. He also points out that the sound cannon he was standing next to was not used, but that it was not the only one. He also says that there are also mobile devices, which are not mounted on vehicles.

According to him, each gendarmerie detachment (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kraljevo, Niš) has two such devices and that this has never been hidden from the members, but that until these protests they had never been removed from the base.
"We were also told that a device had been placed in or next to the Presidency, and that tractors parked around Pioneer Park were positioned precisely to deflect cannon fire if they were used, since our people were also in the park," he says.
