The tourist guide "Taste Atlas" (Taste Atlas) published a list of the 50 best-rated types of pizza. At the top of the list is a simple, but almost everyone's favorite pizza - Margarita.

The cult dish originating from Naples follows closely behind pizza Neapolitan, and the third place is taken by pizza Quattro Formaggi, writes "Mirror".

Not surprisingly, the top ten comes from Italy, where the existence of pizza was first noted in the works of the poet and essayist Benedetto di Falco as far back as 1535. The list, compiled by the online travel guide Taste Atlas, also placed the square in fourth place. Pizza al taglio, and on the fifth – pizza with cherry tomatoes or pizza caprese, while in the sixth place was the popular in our country – Capricciosa.

According to the Taste Atlas, Margherita pizza was made for the Queen Margarita of Savoy during her visit to Naples in 1889. The dish, with bright red tomatoes, creamy white mozzarella and green basil leaves, was meant to represent the colors of the Italian flag, and the Queen was reportedly very impressed.

The cook Rafaele Esposito from the pizzeria "brandy", who is credited with creating the pizza, named it after the queen. However, the filling is thought to date back to at least 1866, many years before the visit described.
