Thousands of New York City workers, mostly firefighters, protested on Brooklyn Bridge against mandatory vaccinations, announced by city officials last week.

"Are you asking us if you were vaccinated when you called us for help?" "Yesterday necessary, today unemployed," read the banners carried by the people.

All city workers were invited to walk along the Brooklyn Bridge to City Hall, but firefighters were the most numerous, recognizable in T-shirts at their stations, and some bore the names of colleagues killed in the September 11, 2001, attacks.
