More than a thousand police officers in six countries, with the support of Europol, today arrested 45 people in the largest operation against drug traffickers from Brazil to Europe.

- Police raided 180 houses today, and 45 people were arrested, thus breaking the smuggling chain brought to the mafia group profit of 100 million euros in the first six months with the import of 45 tons of cocaine, a statement from Europol said.

The operation was carried out in Portugal, Belgium and Brazil, and was assisted by police in Spain, the Netherlands, Romania and the United Arab Emirates.

Thirty-eight people have been arrested in Brazil, four in Belgium, two in Dubai and one in Spain. 38 million euros were seized in Portugal, 12 euros and one million Brazilian reais (200.000 euros) as well as 157.000 US dollars in Belgium.

Also seized are 70 luxury vehicles in Brazil, Belgium and Spain, as well as 37 private jets, 163 houses in Brazil, two houses in Spain worth four million euros and two apartments in Portugal worth 2,5 million euros.
