The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a busy train station in the German city of Munich during construction work near Donersbergerberke station.

So far there is no danger outside the immediate environment, police said.

More than 2.000 tons of active bombs and ammunition are discovered in Germany each year, and more than 70 years have passed since the end of World War II.

British and US warplanes bombed the country with 1,5 million tonnes of bombs that killed 600.000 people. Officials estimate that 15 percent of the bombs did not explode, and some remained buried at a depth of six meters.
