Two people were killed and more than 120 were injured when a gas cylinder exploded at a restaurant in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, police said, adding that civilian defense personnel were trying to contain the blaze.

Several shops were damaged and four buildings were evacuated, police added.

Pictures published by local media show glass debris and some rubble scattered on the sidewalk. The restaurant is located in Khaldiya, an area close to the sea.
