Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has found creative ways to play on the nerves of prison officials as he bombards them with a series of outlandish demands.

Through his lawyers, he published letters showing how he ridiculed the prison authorities.

Navalny requested, among other things, a kimono or a balalaika, apparently to pass the time in seclusion with music.

But he also seeks companionship in the cell with an animal, but again not just any animal. Navalny asked for nothing less than a kangaroo.

He asked for a bottle of whiskey, a stick, two bags of cheap tobacco and a black belt.

Of course, his requests from the IK-6 penal colony were rejected.

Navalny is serving a combined sentence of 11,5 years for fraud and contempt of court. He emphasizes that the charges are fabricated to silence Putin's opposition.
