A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a car crashed into the basement windows of the historic Francis Hotel in England. The fire and rescue service was called to the scene outside the hotel in Queen Square, Bath, at around 04:45 local time, reports "BBC".

The rescue team freed one of the passengers from the Kia vehicle, while the second managed to get out on his own.

The man has been released on unconditional bail pending the investigation. Police said officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash, including those who may have dash cam or cell phone footage.

The car was stuck, but the hotel is open as normal.

A hotel staff member said the basement was used for storage and guest rooms were not affected.
