The legendary rapper Tupac Shakur got a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, nearly three decades after he was killed.
The ceremony honored the artist who died at the age of 25 after a short but spectacular career that saw him rise from a backup dancer to one of the most influential figures in hip-hop.
"To stand here and represent the Shakur family fills my heart with honor," said Tupac's sister Sekiva "Seth" Shakur at the star's unveiling in Los Angeles.
"Tupac knew deep down that he was always destined for something great." And as his younger sister, I was privileged to see that greatness in the making," she added.
Known for his emotionally intense lyrics and natural stage presence, Shakur has sold more than 75 million records with hits like "California Love" and "Change."
Shakur also became a key figure in the rivalry between East Coast and West Coast American hip-hop.
He became one of the most recognizable figures on the West Coast before he was murdered in September 1996 in Las Vegas.
