Nearly a million Russians have left the country in the past two weeks since Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his partial mobilization order.

According to Forbes Russia, such an assessment of mass emigration is given by a source from the Kremlin. Another source of the publication, who is familiar with the secret analyzes of the presidential administration, claims that the figure is 600-700 thousand people.

According to Kazakhstan's interior minister, Marat Ahmetdzhanov, more than 200.000 Russian citizens have arrived in Kazakhstan since September 21, when Putin announced a "partial military mobilization." Many Russians also fled to Georgia, Mongolia, Turkey, Armenia and Finland.

Many Russian citizens fled to Armenia and Turkey, but their number is unknown. Most cross the border on tourist visas and it is unclear whether they will return. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said they plan to mobilize around 300.000 people. Russians who are subject to military service and who want to leave the Russian Federation have started receiving invitations at the border with Georgia.

On September 30, the Russian ambassador in Helsinki, Pavel Kuznetsov, said that since September 21, about 60.000 Russians have entered Finland, of which 80 percent are transiting to other European countries. According to the migration service, around 100 people have applied for asylum.

In early September, even before the partial mobilization was announced, Rosstat announced that 419.000 people had left Russia since the beginning of the year, which is twice as many as in the same period last year.
