Phantom companies used to draw money from the budget – that's gone, Mickoski says
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, in tonight's MTV appearance, in which he talked about the state budget for next year, said that there are no longer "phantom companies that draw money from the state treasury with fictitious VAT refund invoices", and that because of this, in October for for the first time there is a surplus in the budget, which has paid higher pensions and higher salaries in education and health.
"After a long time, we had a surplus in the Budget, and that was in October, approximately one billion and 125 million denars. And it represented a good success for the Government and it helped to remedy some situations, quite a bit. I'm talking about liquidity. In the area of the fight against the gray economy, I can say that the growth of revenues that come originally from the operations of both the IRS and Customs is measured mostly in double-digit percentages, 12, 15, even more than 20 percent. This means that there are no more phantom companies that claim VAT refunds," Mickoski said.
"Six months after we became the government, many of the phantom companies that were often then bankrupted, resold to people who do not exist, outside the country, caused such a hole in the budget that at times the liquidity was called into question. Well, now that's gone. The "as before" principle is gone, and for those reasons this surplus appeared, which means a lot to us, and imagine - at the same time, we have increased pensions, already in November from the point of view of liquidity and increased salaries in the education, health sector, etc. , said the prime minister.
