European leaders in Davos: Increasing armaments is key for Europe and Ukraine
Strengthening Ukraine's armaments and armaments system is crucial during the Russian invasion, leaders of some European countries and the head of NATO's security panel in Europe agreed today during a meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Dutch Defense Minister Kaisa Olongren said the European Union could join forces to provide complex weapons systems that ce needed by Ukraine.
Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Cruz said greater coordination was needed in deciding which weapon systems and ce needed by the European Union as long-term security goal.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the best way to support Ukraine is to ce provided weapons, which the Allies are doing at a high level, and reiterated that although it supports Ukraine, NATO will not be part of the conflict.
Opening the session, the head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, told the states that they do not have to wage war, but called on them to help Kyiv lead it.
He proposed setting up an international advisory working group to offer security guarantees to Ukraine, including the provision of weapons, funding for reconstruction and defense, maintaining sanctions on Russia and joining the EU.
