The EU begins negotiations on a visa-free regime with Armenia

- The European Commission announced that it is starting negotiations with Armenia for the introduction of a visa-free regime, which will allow the citizens of Armenia to travel to the EU without a visa for up to 90 days, the European Commission announced.

The talks follow progress in bilateral relations, launched in 2017 with the Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. Changes will be made to the documents of Armenian citizens and improvements in border management and migration.

The EU introduced a simplified visa regime for Armenia in 2014, but visa-free travel will not be automatic, the Commission said in a statement. Negotiations will continue until all criteria are met, and the final decision will be made by the EU Council.
