EU with 600 million euros to strengthen Bulgaria's border with Turkey

The European Union will allocate 600 million euros to strengthen Bulgaria's border with Turkey, the state secretary in the Bulgarian Ministry of the Interior said today. Petar Todorov.
He said that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, informed the Government of Bulgaria that the Commission held a meeting on a new strategic approach to the protection of the external border of the EU and that Bulgaria is a priority.
"For the strengthening and technical construction of our border, more than 600 million euros will be allocated. There we have over 110 kilometers of technically unsecured border, and there is something to be done on the remaining 200 kilometers," Todorov pointed out.
According to him, the money will be spent on equipment, cameras, sensors and cars.
In the first three months, the influx of migrants increased by 43 percent compared to last year.
