The EU believes that Maduro's victory in the elections in Venezuela cannot be recognized

The results of the presidential elections in Venezuela, in which President Nicolás Maduro officially won, "cannot be recognized", the EU Council said.

"Despite committing to do so, the National Electoral Council of Venezuela (CNE) has not yet published the official protocols from the polling stations. "Due to the lack of evidence to support them, the results announced on August 2 by the CNE cannot be recognized," the statement said.

Unlike the US and several other countries, the EU did not recognize the victory of opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia.
