EU reacts to Poland: Media law is a negative signal

The European Commission today criticized the Polish law restricting foreign ownership of domestic media companies, which was passed by the lower house of parliament. reports Euronews.

"Media pluralism and diversity of opinion are what strong democracies welcome, not the fight against them. "Poland's broadcasting bill sends a negative signal," EC Vice President Vera Jurova wrote on Twitter.

Polish lawmakers passed the bill last night with 228 votes in favor, 216 against and 10 abstentions.
