Erdogan: Biden faces 'honesty test' in handling Gaza war

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today that US President Joe Biden passes the "honesty test" in his actions regarding the war in Gaza, British media reported.

Speaking to reporters on his way back from the G7 summit in Italy, Erdogan said Biden was expected to show that the Gaza ceasefire plan was not a "calculated election tactic" but a sincere effort to stop the war.

He also indicated that Germany had softened its stance on the sale of Eurofighter jets to Turkey. In November, Turkey said it was in talks with Britain and Spain to buy the Eurofighter Typhoon, although Germany opposed the idea.

- The Eurofighter planes are important for us - stressed the Turkish president.

Erdogan also said inflation would reach a more favorable level in the final quarter of the year with steps on interest rates yet to be taken.

- The policies aimed at rebalancing the economy bear fruit - indicated the head of the Turkish state
