A strong explosion with many casualties in a fuel warehouse occurred tonight near the Stepanakert-Askeran highway in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, Radio Free Europe reported.
The separatist authorities in the region said that there are many injured who have been taken to the hospital. Details of the incident are still scarce. Rescue teams are on the scene, officials said.
Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh, a territory internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan but outside Baku's control after the collapse of the Soviet Union, were forced to declare a ceasefire on September 20 after a lightning-quick 24-hour military operation by the Azerbaijani army.
