Explosions near Kiev for the second night in a row

Several explosions were heard early this morning in Kyiv, Mayor Vitaly Klitschko announced, on the second day of Russian airstrikes on the city.

"The missile was shot down near Kiev. The air defense is working," Klitschko wrote on Telegram.

This is the second night in a row that Russia has attacked the capital of Ukraine. Overnight on Sunday, Kyiv City Day, Ukraine shot down 58 of 59 Iranian-made drones launched, the Ukrainian military announced, calling it one of the largest strikes to date. It was also the first deadly attack in May – a 41-year-old man was killed and at least two others were injured.
