EXCLUSIVE Brima research: Zaev is still the most popular politician

The regular political barometer of the "Brima" agency for the political views of the population in the Republic of Northern Macedonia in the run-up to the local elections in the country is a field survey, conducted in the period from August 27 to September 9 this year on a nationally representative sample (the survey was conducted by face-to-face method, at the respondent's home), observing all demographic characteristics of the population aged 18+ in the country, which includes 1.201 respondents. The results have an error margin of +/- 2,8%.

In this poll as well - despite the generally low ratings of politicians - the most popular political leader in Macedonia is Zoran Zaev, who with his 11,8% from the support of the respondents convincingly leads to the leader of the opposition Hristijan Mickoski (7%). Among ethnic Albanian politicians, however, the "race" is somewhat narrower, though Ahmeti with 5,9% and Bilal Kasami with 4,4% lead the "duet" in power, in front of the opposition Zijadin Sela (4,1%) and Afrim Gashi (0,4%).

In general, not all of our political leaders have the power to unite citizens in general.

For example, 13,6% and 17,8% of the respondents expressed a "very benevolent" and "somewhat benevolent" attitude towards the "leading" Zaev, while 18,7% opted for a "somewhat benevolent" and "very unfavorable" attitude and 46,9% surveyed. For comparison, 8,3% of the respondents see Hristijan Mickoski as "very benevolent" and 15,8% as "somewhat benevolent", and the combined score of "very" and "somewhat" is more than 71% of the respondents. In the case of Albanian leaders, that discrepancy is even greater.

When it comes to the supra-party function of President Pendarovski, for him the mood is relatively balanced: he causes a certain kindness in 40% of respondents, as opposed to 56,5% unkindness. It is very similar to the combined score of Venko Filipce, for example, for whom almost 41% of the respondents expressed a benevolent attitude, and the score of those who look at him unfavorably and his work is just over 56%.
