One person died and three others were wounded in a shootout in Slovenia, while the suspect is still on the run, the police in Novo Mesto said, reported STA.

It is believed that the suspect, 25-year-old Mirko Pillinger, killed a 22-year-old boy from Novo Mesto yesterday, on the main road between Mirne Peči and Novo Mesto near Brezhne.

Three more people, one woman and two men, aged between 19 and 27, were wounded in the shooting and taken to the hospital in Novo Mesto, STA reported.

In the period from 23 p.m. to 2 a.m. tonight, there were several policemen in front of the emergency room in Novo Mesto, because there were gathered around 100 people who knew the injured and the deceased, but there were no riots.

Police said the suspect, Pellinger, who already had a criminal record, is on the run and that he is armed and dangerous.

The search is ongoing and the investigation continues.

Firearm incidents are rare in Slovenia and this is one of the worst shootings in recent years, according to STA.
