Smaller coalition partners "By Saturday, before the start of the session for the election of the new government, they will decide whether to support the government program and the ministers," the president of the Democratic Union (DS) told "Free Press". Pavle Trajanov, after previously analyzing whether their program commitments are embedded in the government program. They will put pressure on the Parliament to change the election model, since their request was not found in the new program, and was a condition of the so-called small parties in the ruling coalition to vote on the proposed new composition of the government by Prime Minister-designate Dimitar Kovacevski.

Exactly for the changes of the election model, a meeting between the representatives of the smaller parliamentary parties was supposed to take place yesterday. The meeting comes after the new government program does not specify whether Kovacevski plans changes to The Electoral Code in the part of the election model. In the program of the new government in the section "Rule of law and good governance" only one sentence mentions changes to the Electoral Code, according to the recommendations of the OSCE and ODIHR, but it is not strictly stated whether there will be a change in the electoral model.

"The government remains committed to the process of reforming the electoral legislation, which will incorporate the recommendations of the OSCE, the ODIHR, non-governmental organizations, in order to ensure conditions for fair and democratic elections and equal conditions for political competition." writes in the Government program.

It is interesting that before that paragraph the request of the Alternative party for the mounted court cases is clearly stated. The program says that:

"The government will address the European Commission with a request to provide a team of independent experts, who will carry out international monitoring of processes that are suspected to have been politically influenced, such as Monstrum, Alfa, Divo Naselje, Little Almir and others ". There is also the request of Afrim Gashi's party for development of the Lipkovo Region.

- Today we will analyze the program of the Government with the other smaller parliamentary parties and we will see what strategy we will take. We will also send a letter to the President of the Assembly to convene a session for amendments to the Electoral Code to open a public debate. Our demand is clear - to have one constituency, a proportional electoral model and no electoral threshold, but the electoral threshold can be discussed. We will see which of the program priorities of the smaller parties are incorporated in the government program and this may affect the decision to vote for the government. By Saturday, when the session is, we will have a mutually agreed position - says Trajanov.

Whether a change in the electoral model could jeopardize support for the new government will depend on the positions of the smaller parties. DS, DOM, LDP, VMRO-Narodna, Left, the parties of the Turks, who support that request, ie whether they will build a common position whether they will vote for Kovacevski's government. It is about 6-7 MPs, without whom it will be difficult to secure a majority in the Assembly.

The President of DOM Maja Moracanin says they will analyze the government program.

- I think that the ministers will be able to fulfill the responsibilities for which they have been appointed and that they will realize the expectations of the citizens, that the institutions will function more efficiently and that there will be more responsibility to achieve the results we want to achieve. - The most important thing is to have results - says Moracanin.

The government program does not include DOM's request for a new Ministry of Climate and Energy, but incorporates the LDP's request for legalization of cryptocurrencies.
