Edi Rama: Serbia should be urgently included in the EU instead of being left to the influence of Russia
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the regional initiative Open Balkans will help, among other things, to separate Serbia from Russia, that is, that Moscow will have no more influence on Belgrade. Rama said that Serbia should enter the EU instead of leaving itself to the influence of Russia, reports Periscope.
– Russia has a clear influence inside, it has some traditional ties. I believe that we should take Serbia with us and not leave it under Russian influence. The open Balkans helped, as well as the attitude to say things clearly, to encourage Serbia to become part of the EU and to respect the sanctions, but on the other hand to understand that it will take time, that is the right attitude - said Rama during the meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in Amsterdam
On the subject of Open Balkans, Rama spoke with Rutte and other EU leaders and on that occasion pointed out that the Balkans is the most vulnerable part of the chain that can be affected and is far from being interrupted as a result of the war in Ukraine.
Regarding the French president's proposal for a new European political community, Rama expects him to bring the Balkans to the table for talks on topics of international importance.
