Johnson: It's easy to be green, we need to save the planet together
Addressing the United Nations, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on world leaders to use their power to tackle climate change and stressed that it was time for humanity to show maturity and responsibility in this matter.
Ahead of an important climate conference in Glasgow, which begins on October 31, Johnson told the UN General Assembly that world leaders have tremendous power to change things for the better and save the planet from the catastrophic consequences of climate change. reports the Guardian.
The UN COP26 conference aims to spur much more ambitious global action to save climate change and raise money for its implementation, at a time when scientists warn that global warming is very close to spiraling out of control.
"We must show that we are capable of learning and maturing and finally taking responsibility for the destruction we are inflicting, not only on our planet, but also on ourselves." "It's time for humanity to mature," Johnson said.
He ended his speech with a joke and said that the popular frog Kermit, a character from the TV show "Muppet Show", made a mistake when he sang "It is not easy to be green".
"The frog Kermit is wrong. "It's easy to be green." concluded the British Prime Minister.
