Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi does not feel responsible to apologize to parliamentary officials to whom he addressed swearing, which was heard on audio recording from the Parliamentary channel. He told a news briefing today that he was outraged by the work of the officials and stressed that they were not doing their job.

If someone thinks that the parliamentary service should spend its working hours on Makedonija Street, instead of at work, then the citizens do not need such a service. If anyone thinks I will let the service go, it is a lie. "They have eight hours of work time and that is how much they should be at work," Xhaferi said at the briefing.

According to him, the curses were not directed at the employees but at their attitude towards the work they have, and not as the opposition suggests.

"I do not think I have violated anything, the rest is public opinion. "The public has its say," Xhaferi said.

He was also asked if he had apologized to the officials, to which he replied:

"The officers will tell you."

His behavior, for which he did not make any public statement for a week, was justified by the fact that he, as president, prevented a catastrophe at the 71st session, after which he shouted at the officials. According to Xhafri, the employees made a mistake because they submitted wrong materials to him and it will be assessed whether disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against them.

"If you go to the end, you go home for such a mistake. The material that was prepared after the voting on the agenda, as it was prepared, returns the session to the beginning. If I did not notice such a mistake, it could have led to a situation where the session could not be resumed. It is not a personal matter, it is a decision of the Assembly. The Assembly decides on the agenda. Such materials meant that the session was to go back. The officials should fulfill their responsibilities properly, and if someone continues to make such mistakes, appropriate action will be taken in the future, Xhaferi was decisive.

Regarding the request for resignation by VMRO-DPMNE, Xhaferi said:

"They have nothing to do, they deal with me. "Should I shut their mouths?"

An appropriate procedure has been initiated for Xhaferi in the Committee on Rules of Procedure and Mandate-Immunity Issues and the material has been processed, so for now he refuses to comment on whether there are grounds for his suspension.

"The VMRO-DPMNE parliamentary group should be accountable for what they have done, and not assess whether the president has violated the code of ethics of the Assembly," Xhaferi said.

At the press briefing, although he came with the Secretary General, Cvetanka Ivanova, Xhaferi did not give her a word. Journalists asked him why he did not allow Ivanova to give her opinion on his swearing behavior:

"I organize and conduct the briefing and this Assembly is not privately owned."

After a series of questions about the swearing, he refused to answer specifically, and then, told reporters to ask, but on other topics.

Only party "morality" can save Xhaferi
